Reformed University Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

RUF is a community for students at UW--Christians, skeptics, and anyone in between--to explore the light and life of Jesus and what that means for ourselves, our friends, and our campus.

Reformed

Simply put, "Reformed," describes the biblical convictions of historic Christianity.  The movement of the Church which sought to renew these convictions afresh ministered the Christian gospel under the banners of "Faith Alone," "Grace Alone," "Scripture Alone," "Christ Alone," and "To the Glory of God Alone."  In calling ourselves "Reformed" we claim the same banners for our work.

University

More than just a ministry on the university campus, RUF seeks to be a ministry for the university.  We strive to serve in this unique stage of a student's life in the world they live in, exploring together how the Lordship of Christ informs every area of life.

Fellowship

All human problems originate from our alienation from God, and those problems show up vividly in broken relationships with one another.  God's answer to human alienation is the death and resurrection of Jesus, and His answer to disintegrated relationships is the Church of Jesus.  RUF is the arm of this restorative people reaching out to the college campus.

Rev. Danny Hindman

Danny grew up all over the country (Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado), but home base for both sides of his family is Indianapolis, and he is a midwesterner at heart.  He went to Wheaton College for undergrad, graduated in 2010, and spent the next two years working in the corporate world in Cincinnati, OH.  In 2012, he moved to St. Louis to attend Covenant Theological Seminary, and in 2016 graduated with an MDiv.  That summer he was called to Madison to begin a new RUF campus work.  Danny met his wife Emily at Covenant, where she earned a Master of Arts in Counseling, and they were married in November of 2016.  Emily is a certified postpartum doula, and loves to read, cook, and read cookbooks.  Danny loves reading, playing sports, listening to music, exploring cities, and in seminary managed to pick up all of the predictable millennial proclivities for local/artisanal/free-range whatever.  Danny and Emily welcomed their first two children, twins Scout and Ruthie, in January 2018.

Intern Annie Lindeman

Annie recently graduated from Appalachian State University (go 'neers!) with a B.S. in Commercial Photography with a minor in Apparel Design and Merchandising. Born and raised in North Carolina, she is very excited to trade in her snow boots for even bigger ones as she moves to Madison to serve on the UW Madison campus. Her favorite things include her really cute fiancé, cows, her Prius named Nellie, the Great British Baking show, Chinese takeout, and crafting. She cannot wait to walk across frozen lakes and is praising the Lord that she has been placed in the land of cows and cheese curds.

The Presbyterian Church in America

RUF is the official campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).  This means that we identify with the theological tradition arising from the protestant reformation and the system of doctrine set down in an historical document called The Westminster Confession of Faith.

Resurrection Presbyterian Church

RUF at UW is partnered with Resurrection Presbyterian Church, an congregation planted in urban and university Madison in 2016.  For more information on Resurrection Madison, contact the Rev. Matt Grimsley (matt@resurrectionmadison.com), or visit the website, ressurectionmadison.com
